Sheriff's manor - Culture Tour After-Party

For those Northern Haunts that either remain unspecified or too specific to fit into any other category. For example, if you wish to post a one-shot on your character's activities in their Haven but don't wish to advertise the fact of it's existence in a specific district.

"There is perhaps less entertainment in biblical criticism without Elder Yorrick providing death glares as a response, however either could be quite amusing, unless perhaps you have an astounding story of the past you may wish to take a stand and tell us of Durham? I would be willing to part with a minor boon to the first person who could tell of an exciting tale that those gathered here agree out shines that of Dukes....

Dukes's recollection was of course fantastic, however something that could out do it would certainly be a tale to hear."

“Thank whatever god or goddess we can for the fact that Elder Yorrick is not here. Imagine the hypocrisy that would line the room, the marked comments whenever anyone saw fit to enjoy themselves,” she holds her nose dramatically, “let alone the stench! No let him sit in his own squalor in his beloved church’s crypt or wherever it is he finds himself.”

She turns to Durham, “I need a word with you at some point regarding your view on the world and how you see yourself fitting within it.”

She looks at Aldrich, hoping that he is managing to enjoy himself despite the ructions.

Keane regards Valentina for a moment but decides not to probe the issue further. Interest piqued by the discussion of banned biblical texts he looks over the bookcase for a moment, eyes settling on a book of first person accounts of middle-english myths and legends. He scans a little further and finds another book he pulls it out and hands it to Valentina.
"This looks like something you might like."
He returns to his seat to listen to the other elders.
It is a book of Fairytale stories regarding enchanted clothes and fairy tailors.

Grace waits for a pause then stands, "I am very sorry all but looking at the hour I should go. Thank you all for a enchanting evening, the work put into arranging it Elder Price and Elder Dukes for opening his home to us,"
She smiles before moving to leave.

jean-Jacques walks into the Library having briefly left to locate something, on the basis his brief absence would hardly be noted,

Somewhat less steady on his feet than he himself realises, in the manner of someone carefully trying to obscure their level of inebriation, he moves across the room and places an ancient looking book on the regifting shelf, and nods to Elder Dukes, before returning to his seat.

Valentina reads the title slowly, battling with herself to calm down enough to focus. When she manages it, it's worth the effort to see the thoughtful book Keane's picked out for her.

Her aura brightens considerably and she favours him with a genuine smile of happiness. "Thank you Elder. I do believe you are correct."

She moves away from the bookcase and settles herself near Keane (though not next to, it doesn't do to get to close to one's elders unless specifically invited) and as far away from Jean-Jacques as is feasible.

Once she's settled, skirts neatly tucked in, she opens the book in hope of an illustration plate, smiling happily when she finds one of a toung girl in a blue frock.

Postby Jerome Price » Thu Jan 02, 2020 11:59 am

Jerome's raised voice shouts through from an adjacent room and into the wider house at large, "DURHAM, YOU TWISTED WHORESONE OF A HARPY! WHERE THE BLAZES ARE MY SLIPPERS, WHAT IN THE NINE HELLS HAVE YOU BEEN DOING WITH THEM!"

Arriving late, Jerome had caught the end of Dukes' tale and ensuring conversation while finding himself in an interminable debate with McKinnon about the items he had left behind in the residence last time he was here. In a lower register he ordered the manservant to find him a damned pair of slippers and made for the main room.

Entering he notices Lady Grace rising to leave, "My dear, you would leave without thanking me in person? Please, might I impose on you to stay a little longer so that I might hear what you thought of the play at least? I would be sore wounded if you left without saying a proper goodbye." there is a pained expression on his face, farcically similar to those of the actors on the stage but an hour or so past as he clutches his palms to his breast.

“Oh darling must you leave so soon?” on hearing Grace saying she had to go, “I was hoping to get to know you better. Please leave your card so that we can meet up in the next few weeks and have a more private chat?”

Noting Jean-Jaques leaving a book, “I will return a book there myself a some point, fear not Dukes.”

She looks a lot sleepier suddenly and looks back at the very comfortable chaise longe.

“Durham do you think you could stop being the monster you are for a short while and help me to the chaise longe? I have a need to lie down. Please feel free to join me if you like.” She gives Durham an exaggeratedly long wink.

"Should anyone need it..." Dukes says, eyeing the room, " there are guest rooms, I can extend courtesy to... everyone, at a pinch."
He runs his tongue across his teeth, the second wave kicking in.
"Each room's doors and windows can be locked from the inside, and the curtains are heavy, it is as safe as you choose for it to be."
His eyes drift towards the doorway, blinking. He stands, snatching two plain candles from the box.
"Be right back," he says. When he reaches the door he hums coaxingly at something unseen, smiling at Jerome as he passes.

(Those with lesser medium will sense a flicker, a presence at the doorway. Those with medium large snrk will see a small spirit, a lost urchin girl peering in. Dukes is guiding her away from the room, unlit candles in hand ooc feel free to follow for a sort side scene I can add to in a few hours)
