Trying to Get Home

A half-way house for the weary Kindred, this old tavern is set back off the road in its own grounds, in the heart of the countryside. Nominally still in Reading's catchment area, and thus sanctuary, this beautiful ivy-climbed cottage is Kindred-friendly (and Kindred approved!). It is a sprawling barn conversion with twenty light-tight quaint rooms, two wings and a central lounge area overlooked by the balcony of the story above. There are small parlours and a library. Outside, a split carriage path winds around a wishing well, leading to the stables and the apple orchid at the back. Beyond the orchid, is a dark forest. No one knows how the cottage stays clean.

Valentina quirks an eyebrow. "I am most curious, Ancilla Blint, as to how you would match Domain to Prince? Given that Aquae Sulis has had... What is it now, four princes in as many years? And each from different clans?"

Andross gives Valentina a genuine smile in return to her question.

"And in those four years only one has remained in place for any sizeable quantity of time. In an old city such as London, where tradition holds its truest and the nature of things is often quite serious, a Venture would likely match. A domain of mostly country villages, with so much nature to watch over and a more rural approach to life, a Gangrel may hold best. Aquae Sulis, has become a centre point of information and has both the upper and lower classes in large quantity to contend with, as such a clan with skills more suited to blending in and monitoring each little bit of information, the Nosferatu, has taken it and seems to keep it in their grasp."

To be honest, it's not a surprise. Should have seen it coming really. Keane rolls his eyes and his jaw tightens.
"So close, Anton. So close." He hisses quietly at the Neonate.

He turns to Grace,

"Absolutely Primogen, he is still very young after all. I will make sure he receives just that education. But you seem quite upset so I would like to offer you a trivial boon from myself on behalf of my clan so that we can move on from this."

He cracks a smile that is probably aimed at confident and congenial but comes across a little frantic and deranged. He drops it fairly quickly and swings his gaze around to Laurence.

"Ancilla Stoker, you spent a lot of time in the new world didn't you? Would you say there was much difference between those courts those more, um, Europan?"

A look of open and genuine interest.

Laurence has been watching the events unfold, Ailith's arrival and departure and the discussion so far have caused a few raised eyebrows but no serious reaction in the Brujah or his aura. When Anton first enters the room, Laurence ignores the Neonates presence but as the young Malkavian keeps speaking, his gaze turns very much to Anton as a spike of irritation goes through his aura. Cold rage overtakes this spike soon enough and it is only with an effort of willpower Laurence refrains from clenching his hand or grinding his teeth.

Drawing in a breath and then releasing it, Laurence turns his head to Keane now. A flavour of curiosity bleeds into his aura as he looks at Keane.

"Indeed Elder, in my experience the Kindred of the Camarilla in the New World tended to be more likely to have come from the Brujah, Gangrel and Nosferatu. Normally with learned martial skill as well, although I did encounter a number of Toreodor and Ventrue who seemed to be expanding their influence in the largely unclaimed regions that are being freshly settled."

A slight twitch up at the corners of his mouth

"For a time the majority of the positions in the court of New York were held by Brujah, Gangrel and Nosferstu. Our enemy has likely caused a change in those positions though due to casualties. Before I left there was a Ventrue Elder gathering allies to support her bid for Praxis seizure gains the sitting Toreodor Prince I believe. It is unfortunate that letters take some time to reach me now so I am behind on news."

Laurence grimaces, then inclines his head slightly to Keane.

Vienna.
Niece's left eye tightens, very slightly, at the mention of that city.
"Interesting choices. Been to both. Should you go, I would recommend a guide, those cities are... actively ruled."
He turns to Laurence.
"I have never been to the New World. I hear tell that the kindred are generally younger. Would you say there were common traits in character? Not so much clan, but personality. Are the kindred bound there quixotic, ambitious? What manner of kindred makes that journey?"
Finally, to Andross:
"I like you ancilla Blint, but your answers have you say so thoroughly on the fence that you risk Congress with splinters. The game was to forge an ideal court with 7 clans holding 6 roles."
A small smile, a hint of canine.
"If you need a specific city, choose one. Don't invent reasons to deny your will, others will do it for you easily enough. Own your mind before someone else does."

"Did you just accuse someone else of fence-sitting?" Anton grinned, ear to ear.

Anton is almost laughing enough to utter I don't want your opinion - but checks himself, flicking that bright gaze to the rest of the room. Caution it was.

Anton chirps, "What's your opinion on fence-sitting, Elder Sheriff Tremere Dukes?"

"It leads to congress with splinters... " he replies, as if confused by having to repeat himself.

He blinks.
