Trying to Get Home

A half-way house for the weary Kindred, this old tavern is set back off the road in its own grounds, in the heart of the countryside. Nominally still in Reading's catchment area, and thus sanctuary, this beautiful ivy-climbed cottage is Kindred-friendly (and Kindred approved!). It is a sprawling barn conversion with twenty light-tight quaint rooms, two wings and a central lounge area overlooked by the balcony of the story above. There are small parlours and a library. Outside, a split carriage path winds around a wishing well, leading to the stables and the apple orchid at the back. Beyond the orchid, is a dark forest. No one knows how the cottage stays clean.

Amusing.... but fair. Requesting to hear more than the blind gestures of thanks that must be heard continuously one one has lived so long, both from those out of genuine thought and those of fear for suggesting otherwise. And here we go again... all the answers short and to the point, no depth of emotion, no flavour to them, just words that may hold some honesty to them said to not insult one so old as Uriah.....
Well if Uriah was to play mind games then, why not see what go be gained also. Andross's aura bubling pleasantly with memories and thoughts of quite how to phrase his answer.

"I think perhaps the words that can best do it justice from the perspective of one lacking as many years of experience as i, would be to borrow from the kine phrase and used in a positive attitude, 'A once in a life time experience'. A night where one such as myself could stand in the presence of not just yourself Prince, but Vortigern and those who came with him. A cup so powerful that it causes fear and concern from one such as Elder Dukes, who is to some degree know for his knowledge on such items, and then not only to get to look upon it and marvel, but to experience its use as well!
While understandable why, these are events that are lost to the tales of history in these modern nights, the fights for power and events that have occured, have reshaped the world to such a place where events such as yours might get brushed aside as fevered dream talk for quite how truly fantastical it had been. And yet, despite having said all that, and the mixed feelings all others who experienced it likely feel as they recall and come to terms with what occured, i find myself struggling to properly depict quite how much i enjoyed the nights and as such Prince Uriah, i would like to offer yourself a minor boon as thanks for allowing one such as myself to experience what i have. Should i of course get opportunity to meet Mithras in person again, i shall be extending the same thanks to him for what part he played in the night's existence."

Uriah actually rolls his eyes at Aldritch's response. He nods as Dukes makes his exit, seemingly satisfied to allow the Sheriff to carry out his duties. He lets out a puff of boredom when Laurence responds, noting his joining his clan mates and abandoning them just as fast. A simple "Yes." to Jean-Jacques but an enquiring glance regardless. Valentina's response elicits a flat "hmm".
Then Andross responds, Uriah nods a little more appreciation.
"Most generous Ancillae Brujah. You shall have to tell me your name so I can register such gracious gratitude. Indeed, a cup from Mithras' very own collection, quite the talking point indeed." a slight pause. "And Vortigern did attend the evening after all, how very interesting." He considers this for a moment before his gaze swings about those assembled, letting out the smallest huff of dissapointment.
"In a night with such a powerful artifact and the myriad boons it can grant, inexplicable presences and the emotions they can evoke and guests of a clearly unique nature... and the best we can manage is 'interesting'? No tales of newfound love? No incredible discoveries? I myself spoke with Vykos, albeit fleetingly, for the first time in many, many years. It seems that this Brujah here is the only one that understands the Oxford definition of the word 'Details.'"
He looks down at Grace prostrate before him, then across at Keane.
"Perhaps one of the Primogen can provide more interesting a description than 'Interesting'. Hmm?"
He leans back in his seat, lip curling ever so slightly.

Aura brimming from the praise

"Ancillae Andross Blint of clan Brujah, resident of Aquae Sulis and Whip for the clan under Primogen Granville."

He gives a short bow after reciting his introduction to the Prince.

Grace listens intently to Andross with a slow smile.
At least one of us has our wits.
Then to Prince Uriah's words.
That sounded like a challenge she really should rise to.

Grace waits a polite moment to begin,
"Might I be excused to move before I speak?"
She waits for the familiar slight nod before taking a step to the nearest seat.

"Prince Uriah, an invitation to a Salon of the nature we experienced was indeed a unmissable opportunity.
I looked forward to the opportunity of being in the presence of so many powerful and respected individuals, outside the usual confines and time demands of a Court Elysium. The chance opportunities and possibilities were exciting to contemplate.

With the announcement regarding the cup and the myth and legends surrounding the ancient traditions of celebrations of this nature I looked forward to celebrating with my clan mates in our new found strength and direction," Grace smiles to Andross, "demonstrating our capabilities as Brujah in the possibility for informal conversations the Salon offered and perhaps even a little romance due to the nature of the evening?"

"I must say that what I found was unfathomable to one as inexperienced as myself. From the moment of the appearance of the necklaces I found ancient magic, ritual, possession, control and power."

"Thanks to this night, I have felt the influences of forces far darker and deeper than I have even seen before and I am humbled by it. I know that I am irrevocably changed. The path I thought was my fate is not as clear as it was." Grace looks at Jean Jacques.

Now I can only hope to live with the consequences,"

Jean-Jacques senses enquiry into his response decides to add some detail

"I can regale mine own experience which harkened back to my days as a kine. The evening drew on and I found myself shy of lustful release and my attention was drawn to a kinsman, and also a comrade in arms form my days in the Grand Armee, just under a century ago."

He pauses, taking in the audience briefly

"Julien, known somewhat mockingly as Frenchy at court, and I met each others gaze and almost without the need for the triviality of words we ascended the stairs arm in arm to elope the maelstrom within and without"

Jean-Jacques smiles

"What ensued was nothing short of decades of unreleased lust and memories, by the both of us in a violent and sordid rapture of ecstasy"

He laughs

"We rode once more as we had in life, we mounted and defeated obstacles in our path, the furniture, alas did not approve of this sudden union, forged in the days of the revolution and consummated on this auspicious eve"

"The moment of release, was mine ecstasy Prince Uriah, though it can be said that that moment lingered for some moments, and the anticipation of the moment was in and of itself a sensation to cling to for a lifetime"

Well, if it was specifics he wanted, Keane thinks to himself;
"Well, Prince Uriah, it was an unexpected opportunity for Worship. Such as I have not had since I left these shores so long ago. We were blessed to feel the Divine amongst us and experience it together. I felt it with Primogen Grace as well as Sheriff Dukes and many others. We were compelled and purged, as once I had done in my past."
He thinks for a moment.
"I am most grateful for such an opportunity, Prince, but I suspect that a lot of what occurred was not... By design?"
He stops and begins to fiddle with one of the beads in his hair, his aura slipping slightly and revealing the slightest hint of Nervousness.

Niketas smiles at the gathered kindred, gathering up his (somewhat drier) boots and strapping back into them.

"Thank you all for your time. I will return later, once I've had time to circle the camp and secure my quarters. I won't be far, so call upon me if I am needed."

He nods to each of the assembled kindred, leaning into a bowing gesture for the elders, with greater emphasis for Uriah and Aldrich. He collects his coat and makes for the upper landing.

At the mention of Vortigern, Valentina's aura has a flash of irritated frustrationand fear, though outwardly her demeanour does not change. Resigned to being silent for some minutes, she watches the room instead.

Keane saying it wasn't by design gave her pause for thought. She wouldn't put it past Uriah to be spiteful enough to have one of his many reasons be to see her fail in the label of Chaste he'd saddled her with. Probably not the only reason, but he would enjoy her downfall. Thank goodness that she'd not been in any of those spiritual encounters!

Aldrich's enjoyment amuses her and Keane's tiny slip of nervousness worries her. She'd have liked to have bolstered him, but short of physical contact which she wasn't about to give she's not entirely sure how.
Only proper in public darling...

Laurence let’s a small grin slip onto his face, rising and moving to stand at Grace’s elbow.

“Intense was the word I chose for several different reasons Prince Uriah. If you’d allow me to give more detail to my rather short answer from before?”

Blinking slowly, Laurence takes a moment to muster his thoughts.

“I have been away from truly civilised Kindred society for a number of years, so my delight at being invited to Reading for the opportunity to meet as many of those in good standing within our society was intense. As was finding out about the cup that was to give each of those who participated in that particular game a boon. Old magic of the sort is hard to come by, truly an intense sense of anticipation filled me when the necklaces appeared.”

Laurence pauses for a moment.

“I have discovered depths to my emotion...my passion that I have felt before only in my rage. Worry, loss, joy, anticipation...love.”

He continues, voice lower this time.

“Knowing I can still feel such intensity of emotion, granted this night by the high standards of entertainment and the excellent company that I was in, is a blessing. A sign that my emotions have not become deadened by the passage of time and the nature of our existence in this state.”

Laurence bows to Uriah, remaining at Grace’s elbow.

“Truly, my thanks to you Prince Uriah for a spectacular Gala.”
