Trying to Get Home

A half-way house for the weary Kindred, this old tavern is set back off the road in its own grounds, in the heart of the countryside. Nominally still in Reading's catchment area, and thus sanctuary, this beautiful ivy-climbed cottage is Kindred-friendly (and Kindred approved!). It is a sprawling barn conversion with twenty light-tight quaint rooms, two wings and a central lounge area overlooked by the balcony of the story above. There are small parlours and a library. Outside, a split carriage path winds around a wishing well, leading to the stables and the apple orchid at the back. Beyond the orchid, is a dark forest. No one knows how the cottage stays clean.

Laurence takes the seat, glancing at the bottle for a moment before giving a shake of his head.

"Thank you but no. I was...restored by some of the events of the night."

Laurence takes off his spectacles, wiping them on his damp shirt and just managing to spread the water droplets around. He looks at Grace, a worried expression in his face.

"Where to start, that's the biggest question of the night. What do you think will happen to those who...became mortal once more?"

Divert eh, well its worth another push, theres still potential he may reveal...

Face remaining unchanged other than forna brief thought of consideration.

"What will become of them is quite simple and has already been witnessed to some degree. They will be returned into the fold, forget their many things or find themselves one hopes at the side of their maker of they believe such. The punishment for allowing such people an existence without one of those results would be very heavy, something likely quite dire if the proper people were informed.

But enough of that talk. It's quite clear that other things are on your mind other than a simple topic such as that which most newly released fledglings should be able to answer, wouldn't you agree Miss Audley? Come now Laurence, we are your clan and a trusted acquaintance of excellent wisdom, i assure you there is safety to say what is truly causing you concern."

He offers a quick glance to Valentina to confirm this before looking at Grace and then returning his focus to Laurence.

"The fledglings are all being dealt with and I assume Aniclla Stoker, that you know better than to meddle in the affairs of other clans? Certainly..." She pauses and gives a small smile, "I saw an Elder being dressed down for attempting such a feat and I would not counsel such actions, even in relaxed company."

She smiles to Andross. "If, as Ancilla Blint says, you use them as cover for your real concern... Then he is correct and you should instead speak on that. Our advice is likely less wise than any an Elder can give you, but, having watched Elders dispense wisdom this evening I dare say we are less likely to stand on formality." She doesn't add 'and actually give you useful advice' but her aura twitches in amusement.

She gives Laurence her best kindly look. "Come now, Is Ancilla Blint correct?"

"The two Malkavians, the ones not from Aque Sulis. They did things I've never seen before and...they were so..."

He pauses, seeking to be struggling to find the words.

"And the possessions....and Hellhounds on the road. I have so many questions and so few answers and the world...it's not as simple as it used to be."

Laurence is absentmindedly clenching and unclenching one of his fists. His aura is that of worry, confusion and anger at feelings he can't put into words.

Glancing at Grace again, Laurence frowns. Worry flashing across his aura as the primary emotion.

Valentina choose to concentrate on the thing she doesn't know about.

"Sorry, Hellhounds? What hellhounds?" Her aura is confused and curious.

There's a twinge in Andross's aura as he takes what is being said by Laurence as truth to the given question, but still in belief that there should be more being mentioned. His face however holds poker like, not displaying this in the slightest.

"Those two are old and very knowledgeable to my understanding, it is not surprising that they can do things new to your eyes. Similarly it may perhaps fear you to know the world is much simpler than it used to be, though with your age it is not something i would expect you to have realised."

He turns to Valentina

"There had been an attack if i recall correctly by two shadowy beasts upon Primogen Granville and Laurence whilst travelling. Though i must be miss remembering some details as i though they had been described as more bird like than canine in appearance. Has there been another instance of them?"

Curiosity and concern can be seen in his aura as he asks this.

The door swings open almost in time with a crack of thunder.

Aldrich's cane is visible before he is, a dripping wet Aldrich follows.

He stands in the doorway seemingly confused for a moment before he scans the room. He smiles cordially to each person as he looks across them.

His smile fades when he sees Laurence and then his gaze lands on Grace.

He takes a step into the room and removes his overcoat.

At the door Grace looks up.
Then immediately runs across the room to finish face first into Aldrich's chest and starts to quietly cry.
