Satisfaction Graunted

A run of Georgian three-story office buildings back on to the river just to the west of the Newark Foundry, this is an apparent ill-fated attempt by the bourgeoisie to launch a beachhead south of the river before the fires of industry rendered the area barely habitable to those of refined taste. Formerly nearly derelict these buildings have been bought up an unknown benefactor and turned into an elegant gentleman’s club. There are many stories about what goes on behind the solid black door, it’s membership however remain tight lipped – nothing more than to confirm the excellence of the recently installed French Chef. To the North the buildings back directly onto the river, looking almost mournfully back towards Green Park; to the south thick iron railings run protecting the building from the street and taciturn bailiffs regularly patrol the frontage to move on any who seek to loiter or sponge off guests arriving or leaving.

"If i may Prince Beauclair". Without waiting for a response, he turns in his seat slightly to face Dorian and Constance, meeting their gazes briefly and allowing them to see the serenity in his eyes.

"It is important that you understand, however unintentional it may have been, you have created something that has the potential to fundamentally destabilise the very foundations of the Camarilla and the established right of elders to rule".

"As an architect of the Camarilla I have a duty to secure the ivory tower and to destroy threats that are anathema to that task". Therefore I am informing you both, after you have each have removed the information from each-others mind, know that I will be using the power of Dominate to ensure the truthfulness of that action.

"Is that understood?"

Dorian does not meet the good Elder's gaze; in fact keeps his own politely to the wall, the Prince, or, when Zhaspar begins speaking, on the Ventrue's left shoulder.

"Sadly I must say no," Dorian replies. "As I have explained in private to the Prince, it pains me that it will not be feasible for me to willingly permit another entrance to my mind. At least, not under the sufferance of a Kindred whom my Clan's Elders have not given explicit permission to be there. That includes you, Architect."

"I would rather be forsaken in this city - in fact all cities - than open to my mind to an unknown. It would mean my death were I to allow it. Clan Nosferatu deals in secrets, Architect. This means I labour under information that is not mine to give away. Many a time has it been that an Elder of another Clan wishes to strip away what defences we have for those secrets. This is not a novel event. Fortunately, my Elders all know that I am here. And two are outside."

"Similarly, my colleague will not suffer under anyone's mental invasion but my own. If this is unsuitable to you, we can leave."

Francis turns to them both in irritation. "As discussed you will answer the architects question or any put forwards by Lady Leverson under compulsion", he turns to Zhaspar "the elders will limit their questions to issues of relevance". He turns his head to look around the room. I trust this is acceptable to everybody.

"I did answer it," Dorian snaps. "I said no."

"Asking me questions under a trance isn't going to give you the validation you want. The only way for anyone to know what's in my mind and what isn't, is for a more intimate ransacking. And I am not able to say yes to that."

Lady Leverson has been quietly taking in the conversation, a small but serine smile on her face.

'My Lord Prince, how can it be that they could dominate each other? surely once the first's mind has been wiped clean they would have no recollection of what they are to be wiping from the seconds?

As for questioning them after the fact, surely, as much as a 'rummage' in someone else's mind may appeal to some, it is pointless as surely they have the capability of creating such a potion, again from their own knowledge and talents?

If your offer is declined? what is your ultimatum?

Constance too avoids the Elder's gaze. She waits for the two to finish speaking, and then turning to the Prince she begins to speak in a calm and measured voice.

"If I may, My Prince?"

"I would highlight that Mr Black and I have agreed to these measures, as we accept and understand that the weapon is of great concern to many. However, I'd also remind all here, that Mr Taylor was also a major contributor to this serum, and he does not appear to be here" she says looking around for effect.

"It wasn't even Mr Black and I who came up with the idea for this, it was he. Which is why we've been unable to make any more."

"However, if Elder Clyntahn would be reassured by a counter proposal to his own suggestion. I propose the following."
"The Elder can view my own thoughts to determine if I have acted truthfully with regard to removing the memories. I do not have the Clan secrets that Mr Black possesses, and therefore can assent to the process the Elder suggests. I would enlighten the Elder to the complicated state of my mind, if he intends to proceed as I have suggested. Some find it troubling." She says with a flat and unemotional expression.

Francis turns to Lady Leverson, "Thank you for raising those very legitimate concerns". He turns to Elder Clyntan, "As an elder with considerable mastery of the art are you able to confirm whether what is suggested is possible". His eyes fall on Dorian, "It would be most unfortunate if I have already been mislead".

"As for the next steps, I am giving you the opportunity to Mr Black and Miss Flaubert to convince these esteemed elders that you no longer present and immediate threat to the stability of the Camerilla. I am well aware of your good service Ms Flaubert and the efforts you have taken in bringing this matter to the attention of the relevant authorities, and this is why the two of you are being given an opportunity that others may not get".

"Personally it would seem a little unfortunate if two elders and a prince of the Camerailla were not able to tell if someone were lying to them without resorting to poking around in the inner recesses of their mind however if that is not the case then Miss Flaubert's proposal would seem a reasonable one if it will help re-assure my Lord Clyntan".

Zhaspar remains silent throughout the exchange. He pauses a few moments before making up his mind.

"Lady Gwen is mistaken, what they are describing is possible, no one is being mislead."

Again another brief pause.

"This is not the optimal solution, but it will work. Although Mr Black I find your intellectual arrogance personally insulting and your desire to put the will of a neonates above that of a continued existence of the Camarilla equally insulting. It should not be for the whip of clan Malkavian to accommodate your wims. To this end I name you Vulgar."

"As for Mr Taylor i have already discussed with the prince what i believe should be done with him. We may need to demonstrate to others less understanding in the Camarilla we took decisive action afterall. Still this is a matter for the Prince and for Clan Malkavian, i will not dwell on it further."

My intellectual arrogance is thrice justified by the fact that the mental calibre of my little finger outstrips your entire brain by leagues you thick-headed trog. False-blooded swine, you vulgar and geriatric maggot, climb back into your ancient grave you thrice damned - If cluelessness were crude oil, your scalp would be crawling with caribou -

"Of course, Architect. I am glad we have reached a solution."

Dorian tilts his head and offers an elegant, one-shouldered shrug, opening his palms innocently. "Constance and I wanted to pollute the water source in Gloucester with opioid derivatives, as Madame Darrieux suggested. Taylor wanted to move onto Barbiturates."

"It was his pressuring that had us change plans. His supposed genius spring-boarded the entire thing. We were mere lab assistants. My field is not even in chemistry, but mathematics. Constance is more of a nurse than a chemist. She's very bad at chemistry. In fact, now that I remember, it was mostly all Taylor. For the damage. He has odd ideas about Elders."

Francis looks unconvinced at Dorian and raises an eyebrow. "I am sorry to hear you capabilities have been so misunderstood Mr Black".

Dr Taylor remains an outstanding issue, on which will have to be dealt with due course. None the less a soltion has been put forward, Francis nods to Elder Clyntan, I understand it will be acceptable to you my Lord, what do you say Lady Leverson?
