The Culture Tour

This is the dividing line - the place where the unwashed and the upper class are forced into each others paths. The lanes and streets joining the North to the South are thronged with the citizens of the city throughout the evenings, innocent and guilty alike. Here, the rich rub shoulders with the poor; from here, the ego and true pretentiousness of the city can be seen.

"Oh I thought I made something up," Aurelia pondered, disappointed. "Never mind then, I was feeling uncreative. Or tired. That was the bar wasn't it? Hn. I'd say I was being uncreative and tired that month. There was a lot on..."

"So: Raven will do; since we're in kine public. No elder necessary tonight. Perhaps in Elysium or at other times. As long as you avoid Mister or Miss, you can use whatever the damn you want. 'Lady' is popular among the fashions of females in court. But Queen will do, Princess... Goddess... Lady Almighty...."

She winks, her tone dry. "I really don't care. Knock yourself out, Andross."

"Sheriff? You asked earlier what everyone is doing afterwards. If you only tend to books - fascinating though I agree they are - perhaps you need a little more social in your life. Don't you have a haven that everybody and their dog talks about? Perhaps you could host an after-tour party. As a visiting elder, I know I would appreciate a safe space within which to meet... likeminded Kindred."

Valentina's ears prick hopefully at Aurelia's mention of an after party. The culture tour was starting to sound better by the minute.

She spots Grace looking in her direction and smiles at her, then turns her attention briefly to Laurence, quickly taking in his appearance. She doesn't say anything though. Introductions have a certain shape to them and Valentina enjoys their formality, so she waits quietly for Grace to begin..

Jerome nods to first Aurelia and then Dukes as the situation between them resolves, for the time being at least. With the Ventrue elder's attention drawn by the Brujah cadre he turns more towards Dukes at his response and question but his words are large enough for most of the group to hear, "Books are indeed most wonderful and another pertinent topic for conversation here. It is here in this very city that one of the most notable writers of the last century wrote their six most significant works. I myself am a tourist, but I have had reason to visit Aquae Sulis many times over the years especially considering the popularity it has had with the kine over the last century or two."

"Tonight's plan was a promenade around some of the more prominent areas of Bath which present opportunities for artistic experience and as we do so to discuss and debate the nature of the cultures that have grown to make this a melting pot for the elite of the country over the last couple of centuries."

Gesturing up first to the roman baths and then to the larger, looming abbey, "Our first stops are these, the baths and the Abbey to cover the older origins of the city and to catch the end of a short recital which is taking place this evening. Wander the gardens and tramway, then into the theatres of the centre and promenade for a little until we find somewhere to settle. And for those who wish to continue the evening beyond, I have tickets for all to attend a new production of the Comedy of Errors at the Theatre Royal. I'll share what I have discovered that the city has to offer and I do hope that others who have found something of interest choose to add their own perspectives and share what they have discovered as we go."

As Aurelia finishes he adds, "Of course for those who might prefer an impromptu party to the theatre, perhaps they might begin and the rest can join after the play."

"As you wish Almighty Raven, God Empress of the Mithras Line, Princess of the Ventrue blood..."
He gives her a quick wink before a grand bow.

"But yes, as you say we are indeed in place not suited to long introductions so i shall keep it to Lady Raven for now.
And might i say Lady Raven, an after party, if one has not already been planned, sounds most fantastic! Dukes hosting would certainly be taken in these nights as suitable appology for any offence he perhaps made to cause such a glance of yours upon him?"

Listening to the conversations unfold Grace gives in to her impatience to greet her friends. By the sound of it this evening was not to be so formal.
She gently taps Laurence on the arm and gestures towards Valentina and Tatiana.
Grace breaks into a beaming genuine smile,
"Ladies may I present Laurence, Ancilla of my clan lately returned from the Americas but previously of Bath and..oh, apologies Laurence I can't remember your full title and lineage although I should. Please forgive me and introduce yourself ,"

Aurelia seems to appreciate the tongue-in-cheek titles, because she chuckles wryly at Andross before looking up to Jerome, her gaze sobering.

“A fine portfolio of locations, Keeper. I have not visited the tramway at all, and would enjoy a second trip to the abbey. The night has been well considered.”

“Thank you, Sheriff. I could not think of a safer choice than your own residence, surely, for a small salon. As to my accent, I suppose you’ve earned it.” Despite the jesting words the elder’s attention is freshly sharp, and Aurelia studies him a long moment.

“Aragon,” she says at last.

Finally, she turns to Grace, as she introduces her Clanmate.

Laurence deeply inclines his head to Aurelia, a small smile still turning up the corners of his mouth.

“Lady Raven, might I say what a pleasure it is to meet one of such a noble lineage. Your presence graces our fair city.”

Inclining his head also to Valentina and Tatiana, Laurences smile widens ever so slightly. Turning his body slightly so as to be facing both Aurelia and the other Ancillae.

“Ladies, it is a pleasure to meet you. I am Laurence Stoker, Ancillae of Clan Brujah and childe of Wolfgang. The former Sheriff of Bath from before the Night of Fire.”

Valentina nods back to Laurence and smiles prettily at him.

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance Aniclla Stoker. I am Valentina Audley, Ancilla of Clan Toreador, Bristolian Envoy and Lesser Harpy of Bristol."

Despite the apparent informality of the evening, Valentina likes to err on the side of caution and formal manners are both cautious and at the same time, very pleasing to her. The habit of these modern nights to often dispense with formality altogether has never sat well with her.

Dukes narrows his eyes at Aurelia.
"Aragon. Never been there. Lived in Castille for a few months, nice place, welcoming. Left in a hurry when the Abello estate burned down. Long story, boring story, you don't want to hear it."
His eyes swivel to Laurence.
"Apologies, I need to get better at this. I am Elder Nathan Dukes of the Tremere, current Sheriff of this delightful locale. I may wish to speak with you about your sire's work, you'll certainly wish to speak with me about mine. I am..."
He rolls an eye to the group.
"More attentive than I look, if I don't know something I'm usually only a few steps from uncovering it, whether I want to or not."
He looks the Laurence up and down.
"We crossed paths briefly the other night, at the service for Elder Tristram I believe."
