The Culture Tour

This is the dividing line - the place where the unwashed and the upper class are forced into each others paths. The lanes and streets joining the North to the South are thronged with the citizens of the city throughout the evenings, innocent and guilty alike. Here, the rich rub shoulders with the poor; from here, the ego and true pretentiousness of the city can be seen.

"Keep your Boon," Aurelia laughed, a freer sound than she's usually given to. Christmas spirit was infectious. "There is no insult taken, Sheriff. And Aurelia is fine -" she said to Tatiana, inclining her head, all shining eyes and a mouth that wanted to smile. "A pleasure."

She greets the new arrivals with a similar murmur, settling into the new hubbub of company.

"So, Sheriff, reassure us that all is quiet and well this month?"

Dukes nods at the new arrivals.
"Lady Grace, Monsieur Jean-Jacques, Mister Laurence, yes, we've met I think. Do any of you require introductions?"
He gestures at the statuesque woman dressed in black.
"This is Mister Aurelia, as you can see he has been very kind in forgiving my social blunders."
He shakes his head.
"And yes, kind of you to ask, the city is a busy place, but I have it on good authority that the Sheriff is patrolling the territories and maintaining order at this very moment."
He nods, smiling to the group.
"Yes indeed."

Jean-Jacques nods slowly in acknowledgement of the Sheriff’s offer of introductions.

“Elder Dukes, I sink it would be my honour if you would acquaint me with those who eez unbeknownst to. One person ‘ere en Sulees.”

An Elderly gent with a white moustache in a smart but old fasioned suit wanders over to the group and doffs his top hat to the keeper. I apologise, for this evenings costume master keeper but i thank you for your invitation to see the sights for the evening. I am fascinated to see what this modern world has made of the ahem Roman traditions and of course the other cultural attractions

The gentleman nods to all present bowing low to Auralia and smiles to Titania. A pleasure to see so many taking an interest in old and interesting ways. Turning he notice the sheriff and he bows low again smiling and nodding, his eyes twinkling.

"I am sure Jerome has an excellent itinerary planned for everyone present, he is quite the..."
Dukes pauses, puzzling over the word choice.
"... frolicking elucidator. Yes."
He returns his attention to Jean-Jacques.
"Yes, quite. Everyone, this is Jean-Jacques of the Brujah, whose actions in the city over the past year have demonstrated a steadfast appreciation of the Tower.
"Jean Jacques, please kindly meet Jerome, Valentina and Tatiana, whom you are acquainted with already, Lady Grace and Mister Laurence, clanmates of yours, the greatly esteemed Architect Falco who requires no introduction and...."
He points at the woman in black again.
"Mister Aurelia, whom I do not know, other than their gender."

"I never said I was male," Aurelia says, her tone thick with exasperation.

"I said: How do you know I am not male? Details, Sheriff. How would you ordinarily determine gender? Please -" she spins a slow circle. "Undress me. Give me your worst. What about me shows my gender?"

"Perhaps, if you are struggling, Monsieur Jean-Jaques can aid, or even the fine Architect. I am curious now, how I can be so confusing."

Dukes stares at Aurelia as if she is speaking an unknown language. He closes his eyes in defeat.
"A joke, a pun, a pune... play on words."
He looks at Aurelia with a flat, emotionless face.
"You have been pune-ing me. Congratulations. May we all consider me teased and move on with the conversation?"

Dukes blinks slowly at Aurelia's ultimatum. He coughs nervously, his hand nearly reaching for his spectacles.
"Can somebody please... I..." he stammers, looking to the gathering for rescue. When none appears, he looks back to Aurelia.
"I... prefer to define people by the markers of their choosing, . Were I required to define you, I suppose.... look, I don't read books with pictures! This is new information! Please just gracefully admit that you've paddled me and spare me your rod any further."

Valentina cannot help herself and winces at pleasing on a mathematical level, glancing sympathetically at Aurelia. She makes a mental note to offer Dukes lessons in basic observation and compliments at a later date.

A tiny part of her wants to smooth the altercation over but her desire to see how it plays out wins and she stays silent on the matter, though she does nod and smile in acknowledgement of Jean-Jacques' greeting.

She also nods to the Architect when he nods in her direction, curiosity sparking at this so esteemed new comer to their midst.

Her mood flips again and she moves round the gathering until she is at Jerome's side and asks, "how many more are tou expecting darling? And when will you reveal your itinerary?"
Only proper in public darling...
