"Truely the world turned upside down," she concludes.

"But its fine. George and Sir Beville are long dead and I doubt anyone will remember Viscountess Carteret or Countess Granville. I have learnt to be many people.
Now I find a much simpler life suits me well."

"You had some information?"

Yorick pauses in contemplation.

"A curious question. It's quite rare that a question is both direct to the point and completely misses the point." Yorick smiles "Don't feel ashamed, it took me quite some time to recognise this too and my opinion comes not just from my own understanding, but have involved amalgamating opinion and historical facts from multiple individuals, some in this court, some from other courts and sects."

"Sire, we ran out of that tea that Joshua was takin' for 'is fever, but everyone says ee's cursed cause he's all red from it, so the other choir boys won't talk to 'im, and now they've locked 'im in the vestibule and I dunno what to do without breaking the door. But I think he might die if ee's left in there."

A nun walked in and stopped, brought up short by the unexpected guest.

"Cherub, this is Lady Grace. She is new to the city and we have stopped for a quiet word about goings-on in the city."

"Now, what has happened with poor Jacob and does this really require my immediate attention?"

Grace looks intently at such a interesting creature.

"You must both go if a child is sick, please I can see myself out,"

"I mean, ee won't die tonight, no. Tomorrow, maybe. But since Josh was the one - when ee was better anyway - who stole into Ben's room and nicked that bible so's Ben couldn't memorise Deuteronomy 23:1 for next day service, dunno if ee should live anyway. Your choice, Sire. Yeah ee'll be arite tonight."

Cherub rubbed her nose through the habit and sniffed wetly. "I swear if I fucking catch what ee has."

"Greetin' Lady Grace. Pleasure to meet yous. Always summin goin on in Bath. What you caring for? You want blood? Tea?" Cherub peered at Grace through the slit in her habit, with two astonishingly summer blue eyes. "Flagellation?"
