It's a long way down to the bottom of the river

Be it The Theatre Royal, The Ceryneian Theatre, or any of the smaller establishments serving to entertain the good people of Bath, here lies the feeling of sanctuary - of focus - and a tremble in the ether as the curtains rise, the music begins. Women touch themselves up - cosmetically - and their features glow and gleam: mouths like scimitars in claret, plum, sienna, smokily shadowed eyes with diamond hints and sapphire glints. Candle flames paint flickering reflections across the crystal chandeliers. Inside a Theatre is something pure, something beyond the Beast, immortalised in story and dance, the hard-won result of all the satirically polite personas, the rehearsals, the strict agents, the money and fame, the spotlights, the sweat, the pain and the blisters, the heartache and a final real catch-of-breath victory. Here is the playground of the performers.

Albert nods appreciating the depth of Epi's analysis.

"Excellent. It's certainly possible the reaction was driven by fear, but fear of what? Fire? Your Clan? Discovery? Your gender? It could be any of these things. Before we proceed we must know more about this entity, to experiment carelessly would put Miss Daye at risk, which wouldn't be good for our reputation or standing within the city! So i will need to spend some time researching that region of that river and see what information I can uncover. In the meantime we need to make sure that whatever it is doesn't overcome Miss Daye.

Would you ask Elder Laroux to join me in here whilst you keep Miss Daye company?"

"Certainly Professor, but before I do, I think that the fear may be driven by touch itself, perhaps it is it's weakness, I doubt that it is my gender as it willingly allows LaRoux to touch Miss Daye, may I suggest that you try and touch her hand to console and comfort her as I did as this will yield further results we can use to find it's weakness and hopefully free Christine."

"Hmmmm. Yes, you could be right. Although i am loathed to experiment carelessly it may well be an opportunity. When speaking with Miss Daye give her such hope and comfort as you can, but be aware the entity may be listening so don't mention our thoughts or plans. I want it to think we're at a loss to explain it or deal with it, right up to the point where we defeat it."

"Yes Professor."

With that she enters the room where LaRoux and Christine are seated.

"Lady LaRoux, Elder Campion wishes to speak with you."

She then seats herself next to the still unconscious Miss Daye.

Erika glances towards Christine, then Eponine, nodding slowly, as she rises and leaves the room.

"Ah, ma petite, you are safe. Do not fret, I will be nearby."

She closes the door, one last concerned glance towards her ward, before heading towards the other room, in which Campion waits.
She is the sunlight of my sunless nights.

Campion awaits Erika and bows his head to her as she enters,

"My Lady thank you. I have some initial observation and thoughts for you as well as some ideas on how to proceed. Firstly, we strongly suspect that this Entity got into Miss Daye's mind when she fell into the river. Do you know which river it was and where she fell in? I will need to do some research into that to try and determine what we are dealing with here, so the more information you can give me the better.

Secondly, I suggest we let Lady Valeria know what has happened. She is considerably more experienced in the Malkavian Mindscape than I am, and I suspect she may be able to slow the Entities control over Miss Daye. Besides, [he says with an ironic smile] you are fully aware of how protective she gets of her clan when they become involved in things like this, I would rather avoid a repeat of the incident we had in Elysium after Mr Black and Miss Flaubert approached the Prince!

Finally, I do not know how much of what Miss Daye sees and hears becomes known to the Entity within her. I wouldn't like to find out the hard way that it know all that she knows. Therefore I suggest we reassure her as best we can without telling her any details of what we plan to do, lest the Entity try and stop us or develop a countermeasure. I realise this will be hard on Miss Daye, but I would hope your friendship and patronage would be a source of comfort for her."
